MSA PASS Automating Scrap Loading Facility
for CitiSteel USA, Incorporated
|
PITTSBURGH, PA – November 1, 2002 - MSA PASS (Process Automation Solutions and Services) is providing scrap yard loading and management software for CitiSteel USA, Inc.'s steel production facility in Claymont, DE, according to Patrick J. Gallagher, MSA PASS President. Michael R. Peschock, MSA PASS Project Leader, explained the basic function of the Scrap Loading System is to provide the operator with instructions on how to load scrap buckets. The instructions are displayed on a PC located in the scrap-loading crane cab through use of wireless Ethernet technology. Automatic interfaces to crane scales and business systems are incorporated into the system. The MSA PASS Scrap Loading System provides the crane operator with the loading instructions required to load the scrap buckets at the CitiSteel USA, Inc. Claymont facility. The loading instructions are provided by the Meltshop. While the crane operator loads the scrap buckets the actual weights for each material is recorded. Upon completion of the bucket loading the bucket loading information and actual weights are available for reporting and analysis. MSA PASS is a Pittsburgh-based process automation specialist working in turnkey computer systems, process control, system design and facility-wide management systems for a variety of process and manufacturing industries. The company is perhaps best known for its work in automating steel mills, but in recent years has also worked in the chemical process, pulp and paper, e-commerce and other industries. |
