PennDOT Awards MSA Contract for Computers
on Highway and Bridge Construction Projects PITTSBURGH, PA - May 23, 2006 - The PA Dept of Transportation has awarded Management Science Associates, Inc. (MSA) a contract to provide computer systems, peripherals and services for highway and bridge construction projects for a period of 4 years. The announcement was made today by MSA's President, Cathy Opsitnick. PennDOT will be leasing desktop and laptop computers, monitors, printers and scanners for a projected 650 new projects annually. These projects will be located throughout the Commonwealth's 67 counties. In keeping with the its commitment to provide opportunities for Disadvantaged Business Enterprises, MSA has selected Computer Integration Group (CIG), based in Lancaster, PA, to provide installation, deinstallation and maintenance services for projects located in the eastern part of the state. MSA will also procure printers and scanners from CIG. "PennDOT's selection of Management Science Associates, Inc. and our partner, Computer Integration Group, to provide computer systems for highway and bridge construction projects represents a win for all parties," stated Cathy Opsitnick. "PennDOT will now have access to the latest computer technology and realize considerable cost savings on the total cost for IT equipment." The recent implementation of new web-based and enhanced proprietary systems that are used to manage construction contracts and document project activities on a daily basis are driving PennDOT's requirements. Desktop and laptop computers, as well as other peripheral equipment, have become necessities on a majority of the State's highway and bridge construction projects. Under this agreement, MSA and its subcontractor, CIG, will be responsible for configuring Internet access and for the configuration, delivery, installation, storage, maintenance and removal of all leased computer and peripheral equipment. According to Ms. Opsitnick, "MSA's status as a Value Added Reseller, combined with 43 years of experience maintaining computer systems for both internal and external clients, makes us uniquely qualified to lease computer equipment and manage the installation and maintenance of this equipment throughout the products' life cycles. PennDOT can focus on what they do best, which is building and repairing our highways and bridges, and MSA can supply the latest technological tools to assist them."
