Point-of-sale data gives packaged-goods professionals a critical performance measurement in traditional retail channels. Management Science Associates was the first company to process POS data, in 1979, and today processes many variations of POS and syndicated data for clients. We are the second largest processor of syndicated data from Information Resources, Inc. (IRI) and A.C. Nielsen syndicated data (surpassed only by IRI and Nielsen themselves.) Category Management

Category Management Reports can improve understanding of your overall business performance through category assessments and store comparisons. Category management will identify opportunity gaps and recommend optimal SKU assortment, therefore resulting in increased sales and profitability.

Out-of-Stocks

The C-Store class-of-trade is most dramatically impacted by out-of-stocks. Unrealized sales and dissatisfied customers are the result. This application alerts the retailer of the potential out-of-stock situation and allows for immediate reaction. This leads to increased sales dollars and greater customer retention.

New Product Tracking

This application tracks the performance and distribution of newly introduced products in your stores. It enables you to measure the performance of a new product in test stores before corporate authorization. It can also be used to gauge new product order placement and to identify distribution voids by store.

Exception Reporting

Exception reporting uses statistical techniques to flag exceptions based on historical data and trends. This application serves multiple purposes, including identifying a potential problem and measuring the success of merchandising and pricing strategies.

        RIS solves POS limitations

Despite POS' benefits, manufacturers still wrestle with the significant gaps in reliable coverage in the current retail environment, where consumer choices proliferate and the scanner universe remains limited. MSA clients have solved these limitations with our flagship Reseller Information Systems (RIS), which transform distributor shipments into census-level retail data by category and item.

Where existing syndicated services project the convenience channel based on a sample of 1,200 stores, for example, RIS delivers product- sales intelligence on more than 100,000 C-stores for some clients.
